Accounting Manager

The company is a stable but growing food processor in Burnaby close to transit, bike routes and parks. They are seeking an Accounting Manager to join their busy team, working closely with HR and the leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out full-cycle accounting duties involved in all aspects of the general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Preparing monthly reports such as balance sheets, income statements, cash flow forecasts.
  • Responsible for the monthly bank accounts and credit card accounts reconciliations.
  • Prepare the month-end financial statements, working papers and schedules.
  • Preparing GST/ PST/ WCB returns and other compliance filings.
  • Process payroll, ROE, and GL entries for employees.
  • Perform system error corrections, new account setup, and month-end system close.
  • Prepare proforma and job cost report analysis.
  • Perform human resource duties include administration of group insurance plan.
  • Maintain renewal of contracts, insurance, licenses, etc.
  • Conduct budget, forecast, and project ROI.
  • Ensure adherence to sound internal controls.
  • Other duties as required by the executive management.
  • Manage monthly KPI's.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • CPA, CFA, or close to completion of CPA program of studies, or other equivalent accounting program is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts and principles (Canadian GAAP and ASPE)
  • Experience in the Food Manufacturing industry an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of ADP, Accounting & Payroll processing experience.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Proficient and experience in financial analytics.
  • Flexible and able to work effectively as a team player.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Be pro-active & able to meet the deadlines.

Bonus Points:

  • Tech savvy with the ability to solve your own problems
  • Experience with ADP considered a distinct asset
  • Experience with six sigma, lean manufacturing and/or quality programs
  • You hold a CPA designation or are a candidate
  • You have previous manufacturing/production experience
  • Language skills – this is a diverse workforce
